New projects start with a specifications consultation. Whether your lighting and controls project is in Hampton Roads or beyond, we will work with our nationwide affiliates to ensure your project has continuity.

Our specification consultants undergo extensive factory trainings on controls, product compatibility, and specific specifications unique to each manufacturer. As such, we’re expertly equipped to assist you in selected in the appropriate fixtures for any job.

We’ll obtain “table-topping” samples, gather and compile all the information you need: photometrics, ROIs, budgetary quotes, lighting and lighting
controls layouts, custom design assistance, etc.

To get started, please provide us with the following information:

    1. Project Name and location
    2. Estimated project start date
    3. CAD drawings if available (for photometrics, layouts, etc)
    4. Intended use of space and furnishings or equipment that must be modeled in space or might block fixtures
    5. Ceiling and wall reflectance or colors and fenestration.
    6. Desired controls capabilities (i.e. daylight harvesting, wireless, individual control, see more in the controls section
    7. Photometric requirements (if known)
    8. Hazardous or harsh location requirements
    9. Budget
    10. Other requirements: made in USA, quick shipment, etc.

How we work

  • 1. Start with a Consultation

    Consultations begin with your ideas. Sit down with a consultant to discuss what you’d like to accomplish, and your consultant will find variety of solutions that meet your specifications.

  • 2. Get a Quotation

    Our relationships with an extensive number of manufacturers and distributors mean we can hit your budget!

  • 3. Request Specification Services

    Once you’ve found products to meet your needs, your specifications consultant can help with a variety of services: photometric renderings, lighting and lighting controls layouts, custom product drawings, and much more!

  • 4. Review your submittals

    Project team members will submit your specified fixtures for review. At this time, final selections are made.

  • 5. Schedule a Pre-Construction Meeting

    A pre-construction meeting is best for large projects involving custom products or complete controls solutions. This prevents contractors from
    experiencing a variety of issues.

  • 6. Schedule Controls Commissioning

    With our in-house team, your local technician is right in Chesapeake. Controls programming and commissioning should be scheduled two to three weeks in advance.

  • 7. Contact Us for Warranties

    We serve you through the warranty process. Contact us for replacement parts or for help with warranties.

Consultants undergo extensive training from our factories including controls knowledge, product compatibility, and specific specifications that are unique to each manufacturer.

Our services don’t stop once the product is specified! Our Quotations Specialists assist with finding alternatives or value engineering when it’s necessary to meet a budget. Don’t hesitate to contact us during the VE process to ensure your project goes just as you’d like.

Our Project Services Team walk with you through submittals, installation and warranties. We’re here to answer any questions, expedite orders, facilitate custom orders, and train contractors and the specifics installations requirements of each manufacturer.

We offer training in our Lighting Lab and on-site. In addition, we are your controls commissioning and programming headquarters. Our in house team can help contractors and even owners in utilizing their controls to their full capabilities.
